On October 21, we learned from the news that a Pakistani court in Islamabad has issued an arrest warrant against Manzoor Pashteen, the leader of the Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM).
We also learned on October 21 from the news that a Pakistani court in Islamabad has issued an arrest warrant against Ali Amin Gandapur, the former Governor of Pashtunkhwa.
Mr. Manzoor Pashteen has already been arrested several times. He advocates for peace and for the rights of his people.
Regarding Mr. Amin Gandapur, we have no information suggesting that he has been involved in terrorism or any other criminal activities. The reason for the persecution and arrest of such individuals lies in the fact that Mr. Manzoor Pashteen is a Pashtun, Mr. Amin Gandapur is also a Pashtun, and Dr. Mahrang Baloch is a Baloch. The Pakistani authorities have, for several years, been persecuting and arresting educated Pashtuns and educated Baloch people. Their goal appears to be the eradication of the tribes of Greater Afghanistan — by making them disappear without a trace, arresting, torturing, and murdering them.
Pakistan presents a different face to the international community and deceives the world with lies and deceit.
We appeal to the international community to compel Pakistan to immediately release all political prisoners.
